Some Facts About Trinidad Radio

Trinidad is the larger island of the island nation Trinidad and Tobago. It is the more populated island among the two. This southernmost island lies in the time zone of four hours before Greenwich Mean Time.This nation has been known for the horse breeding and horse races. Horse racing events have been taking place at the sister Island of Tobago, Union Park In San Fernando, The Arima Race Track and Queen's Park Savannah. As a lot of people were interested in this event, those who could not be there to watch it live wanted some means of communication to give them all the information. Trinidad Radio served this purpose, they covered all the events by giving live commentary.Trinidad Radio is run by the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Radio Society Incorporation (TTARS). This organization is in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. TTARS is a member of the International Amateur Radio Union or IARU.Trinidad Radio runs various programs, covering every type of interest and for every segment of listeners. There are soap operas, passing parade and news. All these programs are managed by some of very well trained announcers who are proficient in their work and keep the radio lively. Some of the well known names include Bob Gittens, Don Proadfoot, Peter Minshall, Holly Betaudier, Trevor Mc Donald, Russell Winston, Val Douglas, Ken Laughlin, Sam Ghany, Glen Antoine, Barbara Assoon and June Gonsalves.

It was in the year 1976 when the 95 FM station was introduced by them. From then the frequency 730 AM is more used to play some inspirational music or various other church related or other religious programmes. The radio center is located at the Guardian Building in Port Of Spain.Trinidad Radio has been known for some highly popular shows. One of them being "Auntie Kay". This was a talent show for children. It had Choy Aming as the backing band and the pianist featuring in it was Dawlett Ahee.There had been another show with the name of Sunday Serenade. This show featured performers of the day. These included The Mighty Sparrow. The show ran on Sundays at high noon time. Cook Caribbean Jazz program was another popular show.

Trinidad Radio has always been known to entertain its listeners and also keep them informed on all ongoing events. Now the station also have the website through which in can also be browsed online and there is no need of having a radio to hear its programs.
